Band-Aid® surgery is the same as minor surgery. The terms Band-Aid® surgery and minor surgery are used to impress upon you that the procedure will be quick, painless and risk-free. You won’t need a surgical dressing, just a Band-Aid®. This is relatively true. The procedure itself is quick, but there can be a day and a half of pain thereafter. The chance of getting a significant complication is low but not zero.
Infections
Though rare, infections can occur and lead to a significant amount of pain, further surgery and a long course of antibiotics, which may need to be administered intravenously. Some patients develop severe stiffness, and yet others develop a painful condition called Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD) whereby pain fibers refuse to shut down and continue to send painful signals to the brain.
